Proetus placidus was named by Vogdes (1896) [Proetus? placidus].
It was recombined as Phillipsia placida by Branson (1938); it was synonymized subjectively with Breviphillipsia swallowi by Hessler (1963); it was recombined as Kollarcephalus placida by Brezinski (2000).
