Taxonomy
Hemicyon barbouri was named by Colbert (1941). Its type specimen is UNSM 2602 and is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Lessig Canyon, which is in a Clarendonian terrestrial horizon in the Ash Hollow Formation of Nebraska.
