Psygmophyllum haydenii was named by Seward (1912). It is not extant. Its type locality is Gulabgarh Pass, which is in an Asselian/Sakmarian fluvial horizon in India.
It was recombined as Ginkgophyllum haydenii by Singh et al. (1982), Chandra and Tewari (1991).
