Interatherium extensus

Taxonomy

Interatherium extensus was named by Fernández et al. (2023). Its type specimen is Lectotype: MACN-A 1083, skull with complete dentition; and MACN-A 1084, complete mandible with its broken anterior dentition and left dp1-p2–m3 and right dp1–p2 (alveolus)–p3–m3, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil.

Icochilus extensus was named by Ameghino (1889).

It was recombined as Interatherium extensum by Ameghino (1889) and Sinclair (1909); it was synonymized objectively with Interatherium extensus by Fernández et al. (2023).
