Taxonomy
Ischnognathus savagei was named by Stovall (1948) [genotype]. Its type locality is Big Red Horizon (Main Fossil Level), which is in a Duchesnean terrestrial horizon in the Chambers Tuff Formation of Texas. It is the type species of Ischnognathus.
