Cornuproetus (Lepidoproetus) diademifer was named by Chlupac and Vanek (1965). Its type specimen is UUG-p 3462 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Cornuproetus diademifer by Chlupáč and Vaněk (1965); it was recombined as Lepidoproetus (Lepidoproetus) diademifer by Šnajdr (1980) and Chlupac (1983).
