Taxonomy
Vulpes skinneri was named by Hartstone-Rose et al. (2013). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Palaeosciences Centre, University of the Witwatersrand, UW 88-812, a mandible. Its type locality is Malapa Cave, which is in a Pleistocene cave horizon in South Africa.
