Taxonomy
Leptomeryx antecedens was named by Cook (1934). Its type specimen is No. HC504, a mandible (left lower jaw), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Northwest of Harrison (Chadron), which is in a Chadronian terrestrial horizon in the Chadron Formation of Nebraska.
It was considered a nomen dubium by Storer (1984).
