Taxonomy
Leptomeryx semicinctus was named by Cope (1889).

It was recombined as Pseudoprotoceras semicinctus by Emry and Storer (1981), Prothero (1998); it was synonymized subjectively with Leptomeryx mammifer by Vislobokova (2001).
