Diagnosis
Reference | Diagnosis | |
---|---|---|
R. E. Weems 2023 | On the dorsal surface, the cervical scute of Floridemys nancei is about four times as long as wide, whereas the cervical scute of Floridemys hurdi is about twice as long as wide and the cervical scute of Floridemys nana is about as long as wide (Figure 1.19). Anterior border of the first pleural scutes reach onto the posterior borders of the nuchal as in F. nana but unlike in F. hurdi, where the anterior borders of the pleural scutes are posterior to the nuchal. The nuchal of F. nancei pertains to a turtle larger than either F. hurdi or F. nana, but all three species are much smaller than all species of Hesperotestudo and Gopherus. Anterior nuchal borders of all three Floridemys species are also much narrower than in Hesperotestudo or Gopherus |
