Fromthe Latin botrus whichmeans cluster, as this species is typically found in clumps.

Taxonomy
Arecipites botrus was named by De Benedetti et al. (2023). Its type specimen is MPEF-PA 470, a microspore, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro Bosta (La Colonia paleobotany), which is in a Maastrichtian marginal marine horizon in the La Colonia Formation of Argentina.
