Taxonomy
Sparganiaceaepollenites annulatus was named by De Benedetti et al. (2023). Its type specimen is MPEF-PA 874, a microspore, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro Bosta (CBO) (Paleobotany), which is in a Maastrichtian marginal marine siltstone in the La Colonia Formation of Argentina.

Sexine semitectate, simplicolumellate, columellae fused laterally and apically forming a delicate reticulum; lumina subcircular, polygonal to irregular, up to 2 μm diameter; muri membranous, up to 0.3 μm wide and 0.5 μm high, with supratectal ridges or microechinae. |
