Taxonomy
Sparganiaceaepollenites annulatus was named by De Benedetti et al. (2023). Its type specimen is MPEF-PA 874, a microspore, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro Bosta (CBO) (Paleobotany), which is in a Maastrichtian marginal marine siltstone in the La Colonia Formation of Argentina.

F. De Benedetti et al. 2023Pollen grain monoporate, amb circular to subcircular. Pore circular, ca. 1.5–4.0 μm diameter, annulate. Annulus 1.0–2.5 μm wide. Exine <1 μm thick, two layered, nexine thinner than sexine. Sexine semitectate, simplicolumellate, columellae fused laterally and apically forming a delicate reticulum; lumina subcircular, polygonal to irregular, up to 2 μm diameter; muri membranous, up to 0.3 μm wide and 0.5 μm high, with supratectal ridges or microechinae.
