Taxonomy
Mezzaluna tatavrudensis was named by Karim (2009). Its type specimen is It. 26636, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CJ 10/2, which is in an Actonian/Cautleyan carbonate limestone in Iran. It is the type species of Mezzaluna.
