Taxonomy
Terebratula stearnsi was named by Dall and Pilsbry (1891). It is extant. It is the type species of Dolichozygus.

It was recombined as Gryphus stearnsi by Hatai (1940), Cooper (1957); it was recombined as Dallithyris stearnsi by Zezina (1987); it was recombined as Dolichozygus stearnsi by Cooper (1983), Williams et al. (2006).
