Merycodus hookwayi

Taxonomy
Merycodus hookwayi was named by Furlong (1934) [not 1935]. Its type specimen is CIT 1257, a mandible (ramus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tonopah, which is in a Barstovian terrestrial horizon in Nevada.

It was recombined as Meryceros hookwayi by Frick (1937).

M erycodusloxocerus or in M. furcatus. Their attitude, in relation to the orbit, is not so erect as in M. necatus or in M. furcatus, but the posterior inclination is less than in M erycodus loxocerus.
