Mesocyon temnodon

Taxonomy
Cynodictis temnodon was named by Wortman and Matthew (1899). Its type specimen is AMNH 8753, a mandible (partial left ramus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Vista, which is in a Whitneyan terrestrial horizon in the White River Formation of Colorado.

It was recombined as Pseudocynodictis temnodon by Matthew (1918), Galbreath (1953); it was recombined as Nothocyon temnodon by Matthew (1924); it was recombined as Hesperocyon temnodon by Green (1952); it was recombined as Mesocyon temnodon by Wang (1994), Wang et al. (2008).
