Microsyops scottianus

Taxonomy
Microsyops scottianus was named by Cope (1881) [from an unknown locality in "the Lost Cabin beds of the Wind River Basin" (Szalay 1969)]. Its type specimen is AMNH no. 4748, a mandible (fragmentary left mandible with P4-M2), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Cynodontomys scottianus by Matthew (1915), Hay (1930) and Robinson (1966); it was synonymized subjectively with Microsyops elegans by Bown (1982).
