Taxonomy
Thrypticus gulosus was named by Meunier (1907). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic amber, Konigsberg collection, which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in the Russian Federation.

It was recombined as Medeterites gulosus by Grichanov (2023).
