Taxonomy
Balanus hesperius proinus was named by Woodring and Bramlette (1950). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Woodring Loc. 236 - Casmalia Hills [Careaga Sandstone], which is in a Gelasian offshore sandstone in the Careaga Sandstone Formation of California.
It was recombined as Balanus (Hesperibalanus) proinus by Zullo (1969).
