Mammalia - Tayassuidae

Taxonomy
Dicotyles fossilis was named by Leidy (1860) [status unclear in light of Wright 1998]. Its type specimen is ANSP 11509, a set of teeth (five isolated teeth), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was synonymized subjectively with Mylohyus nasutus by Kurten and Anderson (1980); it was recombined as Mylohyus fossilis by Lundelius (1960), Westgate and Messick (1985), Hulbert and Pratt (1998), Wright (1998), Albright et al. (2019) and Prothero (2021).
