Bownomomys americanus

Taxonomy
Teilhardina americana was named by Bown (1976). Its type specimen is UW 6896, a mandible (left dentary with c, possible alveolus for p1, p2-m3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is No Water (150'), which is in a Wasatchian terrestrial horizon in the Willwood Formation of Wyoming. It is the type species of Bownomomys.

It was recombined as Tetonoides americana by Gingerich (1981); it was synonymized subjectively with Anemorhysis tenuiculus by Szalay (1982); it was recombined as Bownomomys americanus by Morse et al. (2019).

P. E. Morse et al. 2019Differs from B. crassidens (which lacks the P1 entirely) in variably retaining the P1, having a less hypertrophied I1, a P4 metaconid that is relatively lower when compared to the height of the protoconid, and relatively narrower P3-M3.
