Kotov 2007 determined Smirnov's Permian Archedaphnia material was indeterminate non-cladoceran. Kotov, A. A. (2007). Jurassic Cladocera (Crustacea, Branchiopoda) with a description of an extinct Mesozoic order. Journal of Natural History 41, 1337.

Taxonomy
Archedaphnia kazakhstanica was named by Smirnov (1970). It is the type species of Archedaphnia.
