Taxonomy
Modisimus chiapanecus was named by García-Villafuerte and Valdez-Mondragón (2020). Its type specimen is IHNFG-5890, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Mexican amber, Los Cocos mine (IHNFG collection), which is in a Miocene terrestrial amber in Mexico.
