Myrmarachne colombiana was named by Poinar (2024). Its type specimen is Poinar C-10-272, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Colombian copal (Poinar coll), which is in a Holocene terrestrial amber in Colombia.
It was recombined as Myrmecium colombianum by Perger (2024).
