Paramiolabis taylori was named by Kelly (1992) [type locality is 19327]. Its type specimen is UCMP 137214, a partial skeleton (Skull and associated partial mandible), and it is a 3D body fossil.

T. S. Kelly 1992Paramiolabis taylori is distinguished by having the following characters: size large; premolars greatly reduced relative to molars P1 and P2 absent, P3 and P4 greatly reduced; c-p3 diastema greatly elongated with the dorsal edge of the dentary sharp-crested along this diastema; p1 and p2 absent; p3 and p4 greatly reduced relative to the molars. Differs from P. tenuis by having the following characters: size much larger; P1, p1, P2, and p2 always absent; c-p3 diastema much longer. Differs from P. sp., cf. P. tenuis by having the following characters: size larger; p3 slightly less reduced and not as closely crowded against p4.; c-p3 diastema longer; horizontal ramus more robust
