Taxonomy
Parapliosaccomys annae was named by Korth (1987). Its type specimen is UNSM 56377, a mandible (left mandible with p4-m3), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Phelosaccomys annae by Korth and Reynolds (1994), Sutton and Korth (1995) and Korth and Chaney (1999).

Korth 1987S maller than Parapliosaccomys oregonensis and P. hibbardi (Korth, 1979, table 5; Table 1, this paper); cheek teeth lower crowned and enamel failure less well developed than in P. oregonensis and P. hibbardi; one or two anterostylids are present on P4; in lateral view, the ascending ramus blocks only M3.
