Taxonomy
Acanthophyllum sougyi was named by Coen-Aubert (2017). It is not extant. Its type specimen is IRScNB a13145. Its type locality is Samples 2396, 2398, 2413, 2381C&D, Unit 98 of Sougy, which is in a Givetian deep subtidal siltstone/limestone in the Cabrieroceras Limestone Formation of Mauritania.
