Taxonomy
Parictis parvus was named by Clark and Beerbower (1967). Its type locality is Ahearn, which is in a Chadronian terrestrial horizon in the Chadron Formation of South Dakota.
It was recombined as Subparictis parvus by Baskin and Tedford (1996).
