Taxonomy
Micmacca walcotti was named by Matthew (1899) [Lectotype designated by Geyer 2016]. Its type specimen is ROM 7783-E1 (lectotype), a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Micmacca (Acanthomicmacca) walcotti by Hupé (1953); it was recombined as Acanthomicmacca walcotti by Landing et al. (2008); it was recombined as Acanthomicmacca (Acanthomicmacca) walcotti by Geyer (2016).
