Taxonomy
Procyon megalokolos was named by Emmert and Short (2018). Its type specimen is UF 49361, a set of postcrania (left humerus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Inglis IA, which is in a Gelasian terrestrial horizon in Florida.
