Taxonomy
Chione (Securella) kanakoffi was named by Hertlein and Grant (1972). Its type specimen is LACMIP and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is LACMIP loc. 305C, south of Tia Juana River, which is in a Piacenzian marine siliciclastic in the San Diego Formation of California.
