Taxonomy
Paphia (Callithaca) tenerrima alta was named by Waterfall (1929). Its type specimen is UCMP 31418 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. 7088, Hall Canyon, which is in a Pliocene/Pleistocene marine horizon in the Saugus Formation of California.

It was recombined as Protothaca (Callithaca) tenerrima alta by Hertlein and Grant (1972).
