Platygonus rex
Taxonomy
Platygonus rex was named by Marsh (1894). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Rattlesnake, which is in a Hemphillian terrestrial siltstone in the Rattlesnake Formation of Oregon.
It was recombined as Prosthennops rex by Thorpe (1924), Matthew (1924), Colbert (1935) and Schultz (1937); it was considered a nomen dubium by Colbert (1938) and Wright (1998).
