Taxonomy
Placoparia africana was named by Gutierrez-Marco et al. (2022). Its type specimen is MGM-6732X, an exoskeleton, and it is a mold. Its type locality is Bou Nemrou quarry, which is in a Sandbian transition zone/lower shoreface sandstone/mudstone in the Izegguirene Formation of Morocco.
