Taxonomy
Plionictis oaxacaensis was named by Ferrusquia-Villafranca (1990) [Type locality is 18722]. Its type specimen is IGM 3977, a mandible (associated right and left mandibular rami bearing Rln, C, Pn, and Mn; LP3, and Mn; plus these isolated teeth: LC; Rand LC, RP2, RP3, Rand Lp4 and 1IM1. ), and it is a 3D body fossil.

I. Ferrusquia-Villafranca 1990Plionictis oaxacaensis differs from other species of Plionictis in being about the same size that P. parviloba, but with sharper, transversely narrower cheek teeth, especially the car- nassials, and in having a relatively large M2, 25% larger that of P. parviloba.
