Taxonomy
Patagocardia peterseni was named by Petersen (1946). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Puesto Ecretton, which is in a Maastrichtian/Danian marine sandstone in the Lefipan Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Patagocardia.
