Taxonomy
Australophyllum stevensi was named by Merriam (1973). Its type specimen is USNM 165349 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS M1401, Al Rose Canyon, which is in an Emsian carbonate limestone in the Sunday Canyon Formation of California.
