Protapirus simplex
Taxonomy
Protapirus simplex was named by Wortman and Earle (1893). Its type specimen is AMNH 660, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Oreodon Layer (1892 AMNH Collection), which is in an Orellan terrestrial horizon in the Brule Formation of South Dakota.
