Taxonomy
Vishnuictis plectilodous was named by Sankhyan et al. (2025). Its type specimen is HTA-68, a tooth (complete right m1), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dholkhana, which is in a Tortonian/Messinian terrestrial sandstone/claystone in the Nahan Sandstone Formation of India.

nearly as tall as the paraconid; distinct cuspids on the distal portion of the talonid; ento- and hypoconid are largest posterior cuspids, but postentoconulid and hypoconulid, while smaller, are distinct cuspids as well.
