Cercis zekuensis

Taxonomy
Cercis zekuensis was named by Li et al. (2021) [Although the paper has multiple authors, the description of the species is attributed only to author Xiang‐Chuan Li. Additional figures of the material examined are provided in Figures 3 and 4. ]. Its type specimen is CG‐14‐001, a seed/fruit (fruits, also known as legumes or pods), and it is a 3D body fossil.

X. Li et al. 2021Legumes linear to narrowly oblong, flattened,
and straight; base rounded or acuminate, apex acute or
acuminate; pod margins straight, subparallel or parallel, at
the base tapering to a slender stipe and at the apex
protruding as a slender curved beak; ventral suture with a
narrow veinless, longitudinally striated wing; valve indehis-
cent with fine, transverse reticulate venation. Seeds at least 7
to 9, elliptical, compressed, and oriented in a single series
evidently oblique to the pod length.
