Circamustela bhapralensis

Taxonomy
Circamustela bhapralensis was named by Sankhyan et al. (2025). Its type specimen is HTA-67a, a set of teeth (Fragmentary left mandible with p4–m1 and alveolus of m2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dholkhana, which is in a Tortonian/Messinian terrestrial sandstone/claystone in the Nahan Sandstone Formation of India.

Sankhyan et al. 2025Small species of the genus Circamustela that is approximately 75% to 80% the size of C. dechaseauxi and C. peignei (m1 length ~ 7.5 mm), and similar to, but slightly shorter than, C. hartmanni; p4 with poorly-developed accessory cuspids, including low and inconspicuous metaconid; lower carnassial (m1) with low paraconid, mesiodistally-short protoconid, elongate and deep talonid, and distally-situated hypo- and entoconid with a prominent hypconulid posteriorly between these cuspids.
