Taxonomy
Palmoxylon rionegrense was named by Ancibor (1995). Its type specimen is BA Pb 884, a wood, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bajo de Santa Rosa, which is in a Maastrichtian fluvial horizon in the Allen Formation of Argentina.
