Xenocheilos orthos was named by Kurtz (1975). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Section 9, 977.67-5, Davis Fm., Elvins Group, MO - Kurtz 1975, which is in the Franconian of shale the Davis Formation Missouri.
