Enigmacursor mollyborthwickae
Taxonomy
Enigmacursor mollyborthwickae was named by Maidment and Barrett (2025). Its type specimen is NHMUK PV R 3900, a partial skeleton (Partial skeleton that includes three teeth, three cervical, 11dorsal, two dorsosacral and five caudal vertebrae, 10 dorsal ribs, five chevrons, right sternum, b), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Skull Creek Estate, which is in a Kimmeridgian/Tithonian wet floodplain mudstone in the Morrison Formation of Colorado. It is the type species of Enigmacursor.

Barrett 2025 | Enigmacursor mollyborthwickae differs from all other ornithischian dinosaurs inpossessing the following unique combination of features and one potential autapomorphy (the lattermarked with an asterisk): (1) posterior articular facets offset ventrally relative to anterior articularfacets on proximal dorsal vertebrae*; (2) absence of a supracetabular crest on the ilium; (3) femoralhead separated from the greater trochanter by a trochanteric fossa; (4) apex of anterior trochantersituated level with the ventral margin of the femoral head; (5) absence of a ligament sulcus on theposterior surface of the femoral head; (6) ventral surface of fourth trochanter straight or slightly convexin medial or posterior view; (7) medially directed, hook-like posterior condyle of the proximal end ofthe tibia. |
