Taxonomy
Akagophyllum was named by Minato and Kato (1965) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon-m P Guad-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1240]. Its type is Lonsdaleia (Waagenophyllum) indica akagoensis.
It was assigned to Rugosa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Waagenophyllinae by Minato and Kato (1965), Hill (1981), Wang et al. (2006), Wang et al. (2018).
