Palaeognetaleana auspicia was named by Wang (2004). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Tianjin Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, No. 9107-1 (cone). It is the type species of Palaeognetaleana.
