Derivation of specific epithet. From the Latin minimus for smallest, in contrast to the large size of the titanosaur Patagotitan mayorum, with which the flowers are associated.

Taxonomy
Patagoflora minima was named by Nunes et al. (2025). Its type specimen is MPEF-Pb 14200a-b, a flower, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is La Flecha Pb 2, which is in an Albian floodplain siltstone/sandstone in the Cerro Barcino Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Patagoflora.
