Salvinia indica was named by Ali et al. (2025). Its type specimen is SKBU/PPL/HP/S/1, an other, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dharampur, which is in a Paleocene/Eocene marine horizon in the Subathu Formation of India.
