Taxonomy
Carcharias (Prionodon) sorrah was named by Valenciennes (1939) [in Müller & Henle, 1939: 45, pl. 16. Valenciennes in Muller & Henle, 1841].

It was recombined as Carcharhinus sorrah by dos Reis (2005); it was recombined as Carcharias sorrah by Valenciennes (1841), Landau et al. (2025).
