Taxonomy
Mesiteia estesi was named by Herman (1977). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lull 2 Quarry (UCMP V-5620), which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial sandstone in the Lance Formation of Wyoming.
It was recombined as Brachaelurus estesi by Case (1979); it was recombined as Cantioscyllium estesi by Eaton et al. (2014).
